About Murchison Falls
Murchison falls was established around 1952 and it was the first established National Park in Uganda. The park sits on an area of above 3,893 square kilometers. The park is governed by Uganda Wildlife Authority and sits on the shore of Lake Albert in northwest Uganda. Murchison falls nearest town is Masindi town and time spends from Kampala to Murchison falls is around 5 hours to 6 hours.
Murchison falls are rapid falls on Victoria Nile River that that force itself out of the tiny rocks while forming permanent rainbows.
Murchison Falls National Park is known as the Uganda’s biggest wildlife park with different bird species and mammal species. Some of the mammal species include large herd of elephants, lions, crocodiles, school of hippos, buffaloes, giraffes, water-bucks, Jackson’s heartbeats, warthogs, oribis and the chimpanzees at Budongo forest. Some of the bird species in Murchison falls includes malachite kingfisher, palm-nut vulture, Piapiac, Red-throated bee-eater, shoe-bill, silver bird, Speckle-fronted weaver and squacco heron to list the few.

Getting there
There are two options of getting to Murchison falls NationalPark either by air transport or road transport.
Road transport- you may use private means or public means but remember that the public means are not allowed to enter the park like bus. The shortest route to Murchison fall National Park through Masindi town takes only 5 hours using private means and about 305 kilometers.
The longest route is via Budongo forest route that is 135 kilometers and you will view the magnificent of overlooking Lake Albert from the direct position of the rift valley escarpment over Butiaba.
By Air transport- leave Entebbe international airport and you will lane in Arua airstrip in Arua district and the company will send the van to pick you from the air strip.

Generally Murchison fall National Park is good safari destination all years around and the best time to visit Murchison is during dry season that is from December to February and then June to September. The worst period to visit National Parks is during rainy season that is April, May, August and October.
